Dawn had risen early on the pack lands of Cerrac. The sun was just barely poked over the tree tops allowing what little warmth in the area to come forth. Winter was coming to an end, and no longer would they have to rely on the warmth of their coats. But they could also come in and enjoy the freedom of the summer air. Orion had gotten up early today for some reason, perhaps he had wanted a bit of time to himself. Or maybe he just wanted to explore, to get to know the pack lands since they had started to come to this area. They had not officially joined yet, but they had already met a group of wolves from the pack already.
As the black brute glanced back, he could tell he was not being followed by Stars. Not that he had minded, the young female was still resting. She had been worn out from the previous days of activities. And adjusting to this new pack land, for her would be much harder. She had known her homeland for most of her life and rarely stepped out of it. This was the first time she had actually left it and met new wolves besides her mother and Orion. But one thing he knew for sure was this was a turning point for both of them. As he turned forward he looked at the trails that had been carved out in the snow by the wolves that were within the pack lands long before he was. Their paw prints were of different sizes and shapes, it would have certainly taken them more than a day to count them all, he realized as he scanned over the snow.
The black wolf decided to take the trail that had been covered the most with paw prints. He had made the assumption that it had been a popular choice for many in the past who had been here before he and his sister had come into the pack. As he went along, he wondered what this area looked like in the other three seasons. Since they had just recently come across a frozen waterfall, this area too looked like it had been plagued by snowfall. Everything had fallen into a deep sleep; it wasn’t near as lively as it should have been in spring or summer. But all in all, he would find out what it was like here, there were only a few more days left of winter.
Orion continued on for some time before deciding to take a break in the snow, he sat down in a bare spot as his tongue came out, and he began to pant heavily from the walk. His black pelt was not good for camouflage out in the open snow. He would have been easily recognized. Plus his markings were just as odd. His pelt possessed several yellow stars across his body and a red stripe going down both shoulders and across his underbelly. He would surely be noticed, but his body did not remain tense as he was watching his surroundings. He seemed confident if he ever did meet another pack member or a loner, and they requested a fight. He would show them what he had. As for now, all he wanted was a quick rest to resume walking.
